Tibia, tarsus and toes -14Jan99
Denise L'Hoste found this leg without other bird parts on the tenth floor balcony of the LL&E building in the Central Business District of New Orleans on 14 January. Two additional legs were found the following day.
My best guess is something from the Rallidae family, perhaps Common Moorhen or Sora. During winter, I regularly see Peregrine Falcons perching on and flying around the buildings in the CBD, but the nearest rail habitat is probably a mile or two south, across the Mississippi River. -- David L'Hoste
