Southwestern Louisiana Birding Locations

Southwestern Louisiana has a variety of habitats ranging from bottomland hardwood forests, through claypan ricefields and crawfish ponds, down through freshwater and saltwater marshes to the coast.
Presented below are a few representative birding locations of each habitat. Keep in mind that Louisiana has immense bird populations, and that for the most part any stretch of road in this part of the state can yield outstanding birding.
For example, while I have listed the Vincent Refuge as a good representative "ricefield" habitat, you will notice miles of similar situations in every direction around it.
