Swainson's Hawk was removed from the LBRC Review List on 29 Apr 1988. Swainson's Hawk is a regular migrant through Louisiana, a rare winterer, and has nested in the state.

One female (1963-01) on 6 December 1963, Jefferson Davis: 2 mi. SE Fenton; Laurence C. Binford (LSUMZ 32159). This represents the first specimen for the state and one of only three records at the time (Lowery 1974).

One (85-8) at Cameron, Cameron Parish, on 4 May 1985 (Johnny Armstrong, Cody Armstrong, Temple Douglas).

One immature (1982-06; was 85-12) photographed about 1 mile west of the Calcasieu Pass ferry at Cameron on 19 December 1982 (B. Mac Myers; John Sevenair, Jim Whelan).

One first year light morph (87-19) on 7 Feb. 1987, Plaquemines: U.S. Coast Guard station, 1 mi. south of Venice; Donna L. Dittmann & Steven W. Cardiff (ph), David P. Muth (AB 41(2):292).

One immature light morph (1987-08; was 89-133) on 10 Dec. 1987, Lafayette: junction of Hwys. 720 and 95; Donna L. Dittmann, SWC (AB 42(2):276).

One adult light morph (1992-18; was 93-02) on 17 Dec. 1992, Jefferson Davis: approx. 8 mi. SW of Crowley, Simmons Gully; Ronald J. Stein (AB 47 (2):267). Swainson's Hawk was removed from the Review List 29 Apr. 1988 (Dittmann 1991); the record was reviewed because the observer submitted the record on a "long form," and because it was an "out of season" record.
