Good. Bright light on 2/4; early morning light on 2/5.

Habitat: 

Backyard planted for hummingbirds with sycamore, hackberry, and other trees in the area.

Behavior of bird: 

Feeding at hummingbird feeder, intimidating orioles, perching and flying.

Description:

The bird was medium sized with a tanager bill, which was relatively thick and blunt. The bird was all yellow below, brightest on the throat and undertail coverts. The head was yellow with some red on the face near the bill. The wings were dark with two wingbars. The rear wingbar was larger and white; the front wingbar was white with a hint of yellow in some lights. The mantle was grayish olive and the rump was bright yellow.

Similar species:

Distinguished from orioles by its thicker, tanager bill. Distinguished from other tanagers by its wingbars.
