Very good, afternoon light, partly cloudy.

30 to 40 feet.

Duration of observation:

About a minute.

Habitat: 

Semi-wooded area (hardwoods); we were walking on the boardwalk leading into the more wooded area.

Behavior of bird: 

Resting, perched in tree; flying back and forth probably feeding.

Description:

Tanager-type passerine, with tanager-type bill; about 7.5\" long; red forehead, face and throat; dark or blackish wings, back and tail; yellowish or light wingbars; yellow lower back/rump and underparts.  Ruled out other tanagers due to wingbars.

Voice:

Silent.

Similar species:

Summer and Scarlet Tanagers.  These were eliminated due to observed species noticeable wingbars.

None, but attempted - bird did not hang around long enough.
