Semi-wooded area (hardwoods); we
were walking on the boardwalk leading into the more wooded area.

Behavior of bird: |
Resting,
perched in tree; flying back and forth probably feeding.

Description: |
Tanager-type passerine, with
tanager-type bill; about 7.5\" long; red forehead, face and throat; dark
or blackish wings, back and tail; yellowish or light wingbars;
yellow lower back/rump and underparts. Ruled out other tanagers
due to wingbars.

Voice: |
Silent.
|
Similar species: |
Summer and
Scarlet Tanagers. These were eliminated due to observed
species noticeable wingbars.
