Stress features that separate it from similar species):  dark back, long white neck trimmed in black on the back of the neck, top of head black, long narrow bill

17. Similar species (include how they were eliminated by your observation):  Clark’s Grebe, Charlie Lyon, Terry Davis and others had been on the lake and observed the birds at a closer distance.

19. Previous experience with this species:  One seen on Claiborne Lake on April 12, 2010 within 80 feet of boat and heard it calling.
