15. Description:

Wood warbler with wingbars, and white spots in tail, yellow head with black face patch.

Head clear yellow with broad greenish-gray central crown stripe extending down neck. Dark mask on side of medium yellow face formed by dull gray lores and auriculars (broadly washed greenish along edges but appears plain gray in center of auriculars in my photos), framed above by yellow supercilia and below by yellow malar; also yellow crescent below eye within mask.  Yellow extending onto chin, throat, and breast.  Throat washed grayish with vague blurry grayish streaking along sides of breast, extending as beige wash onto whitish flanks.  Rest of underparts whitish with no yellow wash on vent, narrow dark streaks on shafts of some undertail coverts.  Mantle greenish.  Wings dark gray with two distinct white wingbars.  Tail same dark gray as wings, with extensive white on inner webs of outer rectrices.

Bill black.  Eyes dark.

17. Similar species:  Black-throated Green Warbler, the expected member of the “Black-throated” warblers in this area, eliminated by distinct complete dark mask on sides of face, lack of yellowish wash on vent, more extensive yellow on breast.  Golden-cheeked eliminated among other things by dark mask instead of dark eyeline.
