    good

10. Optical equipment (type, power, condition): Swa. Scope 15x20.

11. Distance to bird(s): 150 meters

12. Duration of observation: 5 minutes.

13. Habitat: muddy field.

      habits used in identification; relate events surrounding observation): resting and feeding in  

      field.

Description (include only what was actually seen, not what "should" have been seen; include if possible: total length/relative size compared to other familiar species, body bulk, shape, proportions, bill, eye, leg, and plumage characteristics. Stress features that separate it from similar species):

     Appeared to be a 1st winter bird, very light brown overall with head slightly lighter, with  

     brownish primaries. Slightly larger than nearby Ring-billed Gulls.

17. Similar species (include how they were eliminated by your observation): Herring Gull would have darker primaries

22. Are you positive of your identification if not, explain: Thayer’s Gull is a very difficult call, esp. a young bird.  It looks like what the images in field guides show.  Am not 100 % sure.
