9. Light conditions (position of bird in relation to shade and to direction and amount of light): birds flying in front and above me;birds flying south;I was driving northeasterly;sufficient light to easily identify as small flock of flying swans without being blinded by sun 

 

10. Optical equipment (type, power, condition):have Swarovski Binoculars fairly new 10 x 42;didn't need or use;flock obviously swans

 

11. Distance to bird(s): ?? driving in vehicle;could see flock ahead of me flying upwards

 

12. Duration of observation: 1 minute (driving on interstate)

 

13. Habitat: interstate south of Cross Lake

Stress features that separate it from similar species): only saw flock of swans flying together in a southerly direction crossing the interstate;no opportunity to identify specific features
