13. Habitat: On concrete wall on levee and adjacent area
near the Intracoastal Waterway; levee bordered by brackish marsh on one side
and tallow scrub woods on the other side. Substantial open area extends from
levee on both sides before reaching the marsh and the woods. |

wall atop levee, as well as on posts and branches; flycatching. |

length/relative size compared to other familiar species, body bulk, shape,
proportions, bill, eye, leg, and plumage
characteristics. Stress features that separate it from similar species): Approximate
size of an Eastern Phoebe, but appearing slimmer. Brownish-gray above and
rusty below from undertail coverts to pale gray breast and throat. Broad pale
tips to greater primary coverts contrast with dark folded wing. Very dark
tail. |

your observation): Could be confused with imm. Vermilion FC with a cursory
view; otherwise straightforward ID. |
