10. Optical equipment (type, power, condition):  Alpen 8 x 42 binoculars, 5 yrs old excellent condition

12. Duration of observation: 10/30/11 for 7 minutes; 11/7/11 about 3 minutes

13. Habitat:  Farmland with woodland edges

14. Behavior of bird / circumstances of observation (flying, feeding, resting; include and stress habits used in identification; relate events surrounding observation):  responded to call and perched on telephone wire

Description (include only what was actually seen, not what "should" have been seen; include if possible: total length/relative size compared to other familiar species, body bulk, shape, proportions, bill, eye, leg, and plumage characteristics. Stress features that separate it from similar species):  dark grey phoebe with salmon belly and white throat

16. Voice:  responded to its call

17. Similar species (include how they were eliminated by your observation):  Eastern Phoebe – this bird had salmon belly; Vermilion flycatcher – this bird’s belly was dull in color and not bright red, also larger than Vermilion flycatcher

19. Previous experience with this species:  Seen in Louisiana at South Farm near Baton Rouge, seen in Texas, Utah, Colorado, Arizona, and New Mexico
