perched on wire fencing near farm house, shed, and tractor |

mostly by pouncing on lawn. Briefly
played a recording of Say’s Phoebe’s song (perhaps twice) and the bird
silently approached immediately, posing very close allowing me to take a couple
quality photos. |

buffy-orange underparts blending to gray throat, slate-gray upperparts, Contopus-like
structure |

17. Similar species (include how they were eliminated by
your observation): I suppose a female Vermilion is the closest thing, but the
posture and shape is different (smaller and more compact and more horizontal
in Vermilion than) and gray throat and chest blending into darker gray head
and upperparts distinct. |
