the channel, then flew back up the channel, apparently behind a shimp boat but not actively joining the Laughing Gull
flock. |

length/relative size compared to other familiar species, body bulk, shape,
proportions, bill, eye, leg, and plumage
characteristics. Stress features that separate it from similar species): very
small gull in heavy molt,
nearly complete hood, tail with black terminal band, wings in
heavy molt, but with strongly black carpal region and secondaries (?), spread
primaries with a lot of black, especially on outer (webs). See attached photos. |
