Habitat:

Small wooded area of pine and tallow adjacent to a pond about 30
yards wide and 100 yards long.

Behavior of bird:

The Great Kiskadee initially was in a small wooded area
across pond from me.  It immediately responded to a taped call of Great
Kiskadee and sallied to the top of a tallow tree directly across pond from
me where it rested for about 60 seconds.  Afterwards it sallied back and
forth across pond about three times over the next 35 minutes, landing
briefly in trees.  It called twice during this time.

Description:

Observed a large flycatcher about the size of a Belted
Kingfisher sallying from one perch to another.  It had a black and white
striped head, very lemon underside from lower belly area to lower throat
area.  The throat was white.  The back and tail were a rusty brown.  Dark
bill that appeared relatively large.

Voice:

Heard the Great Kiskadee call twice in a rough, raucous sound.

Similar species that are relatively large with yellow
undersides include Western Kingbird, Cassin's Kingbird, Tropical Kingbird,
Couch's Kingbird, Great Crested Flycatcher, Brown-crested Flycatcher,

and white striped head.
