First heard it singing, so it was identified as a Bell’s Vireo before we even saw it. The song is unique. We then played a digital version of its song which it responded to and came in closer. |
Description: |
See photo below. I have also attached a copy of the photo to the email that I attached this report to. Small bird 4 to 5 inches long, grayish above, yellowish breast, darkish line though the eye, whitish above and below eye, white wing bars, thick bill. |
Voice: |
To quote a common field guide “a series of harsh scolding notes.” I can’t describe it differently. |
Similar species: |
Similar species were eliminated by song. |
