13. Habitat: spoil bank woods,
mainly hackberry, with a good fringe of ragweed, gaura,
and other tall annuals. |

14. Behavior of bird / circumstances of observation: Came in to Screech Owl
call. Vegetation was so dense I abandoned
my attempt to enter woods and played owl call over my phone. Response was good, with several Common
Yellowthroats, B-g. Gnatcatchers, and W-e.
Vireos. This vireo popped up out of
the gaura, saw me, then
dropped back in a layer. I
photographed it through a curtain of gaura. 15. Description: A somewhat worn-looking
Bell’s, or perhaps it only appeared so in the heat
and light. Back seemed a worn olive
color, head somewhat olive-gray, and the yellow on the sides of the whitish breast
not as pale lemony as on other birds.
Pale area around eyes was diffuse but broad. Two wingbars, both fairly distinct and
whitish. Bill pale, grayish or
bluish-gray with seemingly a hint of pink.

your observation): Warbling and Philadelphia without wingbars, White-eyed
with different face pattern but otherwise similar. |
