bird(s): Joelle Finley discovered the bird December 26, 2010 on the N.O. CBC
and tentatively ID'd it as a Brown-crested. David Muth saw it subsequently. |

Habitat: Small stretch of woods adjacent to old golf course; hackberry, tallow, willow, and elderberry; thick underbrush. |

Behavior of bird / circumstances of observation (flying, feeding, resting; include and stress habits used in identification; relate events surrounding observation): Skulking, flycatching; looking around curiously in response to iPod after flying in to investigate. This was the 3rd trip I had taken to look for the bird. |

Description (include only what was actually seen, not what "should" have been seen; include if possible: Obvious myiarchus with large (thick) all-dark bill; fairly bright yellow breast and belly; pale gray throat and upper breast. The rufous in the rectrices extended all the way to tip of the tail; no black J pattern at the end of the rectrix. Grayish face with brownish-olive head and mantle. Two pale wingbars and a rufous panel in the folded primaries. |

Voice: Did not call. |

Similar species (include how they were eliminated by your observation): Ash-throated eliminated by rectrix pattern. Large bill and bright yellow underparts indicate Brown-crested. Strong response to Brown-crested vocalizations of i-Pod reinforce ID. |
