| The Ovenbird was observed in my small urban garden in New Orleans on 16, 17, and 23 January, 21 February, and 4 March 1999. Noisy and disruptive yard work (including replanting the garden) and a Mardi Gras party did not deter it. |
| The kite and the flycatcher were in the same field along Highway 23, about ten miles south of Myrtle Grove, on 20 February 1999. The photo of the kite was taken by mashing the lens of my camera against the eyepiece of my spotting scope -- hence the calendar-like quality. -- David L'Hoste |
